There’s one rule about Cake club. That is always talk about Cake club.
This year I wanted to join one as I love baking and after finding the Clandestine Cake Club online I somehow ended up becoming the Worthing coordinator as the group had ceased to meet following the previous organiser giving it up.
Anyhow, it is great to get together and talk about all things cake, eat cake and take cake home to eat some more.
October’s theme bake was ‘under the sea’ and I ended up searching the Internet for pictures of cakes and found the crab.
At least the end result resembled a crab and had some sea salt dark chocolate crushed inside the strawberry jam of the sponge beneath the iced exterior to add to the sea theme.
There’s something about baking that I use as a type of meditation. I think it is the bringing together of a number of things to make something else and the concentration on getting the measurements, consistency and flavours just right that results in me not being able to be anything else but in the moment with it.
The other bonus is I get to eat it at the end aswell!
